Aircraft VP-FAM Turbo Beaver c/n 1670-TB40 (continued)
During the season it supported BAS field parties from Adelaide to Fossil Bluff, Stonington and the many depots and resupplies on the Plateau.
On March 25th, 1970, the aircraft departed Adelaide for Punta Arenas and to DHC Canada., and then returned to Adelaide (via Punta Arenas in Chile) in mid-December 1970 for BAS summer operations, sustaining repairable damage to the tail-ski and fuselage in January 1971.
The aircraft returned to Downsview from Adelaide in early April 1971. At the end of November, 1971, it arrived at back at Adelaide, and, following a third season of BAS support flights (mostly to/from Fossil Bluff), it departed Adelaide on March 20th 1972 and arrived at Downsview on March 28th, 1972.
Because BAS wished to standardize on a Twin Otter fleet (VP-FAQ replaced Turbo-Beaver VP-FAM), it was sold through NERC agents Air Associates Ltd., London, UK to DHC on April 14th, 1972.
