Mt. Hope – First Ascent (continued)

The day started manky with a temperature of minus 15º C, but we set off on our Christmas holiday to make the first ascent of Mount Hope. Our route took us from the snow col where we camped, northwards for about half a mile up small rocky outcrops, then to the right of the ice peaks. We found the summit to be a mass of ice hummocks, caused by rime accumulation, at about 10,000 feet according to the barometer. It was misty most of the way, with a bit of a glimpse outward from the top. On the way down the high cloud cleared, but it remained manky below us at about 6000 feet. “

Mike Cousins and I believed this was the first visit to the Eternity Range since BGLE.
